Bomb Cyclones and Stuff… | Rich Life Letter #083
Happy Sunday!
Wow. What a week!
The bombcyclone hit us pretty hard – the office lost power Wednesday through Friday and my house lost power Tuesday through Saturday.
It’s pretty humbling to see how much we all rely on electricity for everything – and how powerless it can feel when you lose it even for a couple of days.
I wanted to say thank you to everyone for your patience as we had to reschedule a BUNCH of stuff to account for the weather.
The good news, though, is that we’re back!
I wanted to start off here with a quick message to all of our active clients.
First, if you had to reschedule a signing, we have not forgotten about you! We’ll get that set up tomorrow when everyone is back in the office.
Second, if you are trying to schedule a signing and are having a hard time finding an open spot, please understand that there are only so many spots we can make available, as the end of the year draws closer and everyone wants to try to get something done, we’re doing our best to accommodate.
Third, part of the reason there are not a lot of slots open is there simply aren’t that many working days left in the year.
Thanksgiving is this week (happy Thanksgiving in advance!) and we are closed the entire week of Christmas (that’s one of the best ways I can think of to thank my amazing team for working so hard throughout the year).
So, if you are trying to set a signing and can’t find an open date, please reach out to the team and we’ll see what we can do to accommodate.
Okay, now a short message of the week.
Last week’s bombcyclone is a perfect example of why estate planning is so important – you never know when something is going to happen out of your control that completely upends your life.
And if you wait until the event happens to try to take action, it’s usually too late (for example, if you tried to buy and hook up a generator AFTER the power went out, you probably weren’t successful).
The same is true with estate planning.
You can’t make a plan AFTER you become incapacitated.
You can’t make a plan AFTER you die.
The process really isn’t that complicated. You just need to get started.
Hope everyone has power and is saving their calories for a huge Thanksgiving feast!
Have a great week!
Cheers.
