Why Do You Do This? | Rich Life Letter #046
Since I’m kind of killing time before I get into November’s deep dive into irrevocable life insurance trusts, I thought I’d open up a little and tell you what this firm is all about.
Because I didn’t choose estate planning and probate casually.
I didn’t stumble into it.
It was a VERY intentional choice.
And today I’m going to tell you a little about that.
First things first, estate planning and probate wasn’t the first thing I did as a law firm owner.
I used to own a criminal defense and personal injury law firm.
It was a good business and we did good work.
But it wasn’t something I wanted to devote all my time to.
The thing is, the legal work was interesting.
But I wanted more.
I wanted to work in an area where people were not necessarily coming to us in crisis.
I wanted our clients to feel better when they were done working with us than before we came into their world.
I wanted to do work where I knew with 100% confidence that getting it done would benefit our clients.
And I wanted to create a business where we could do that for as many people as possible (translation = I have a great team of people working for our clients).
Where we keep our promises.
We deliver on time.
We communicate well.
And to do that I knew I needed to create something that was bigger than me.
I knew there were great people out there excited to do great work.
So I started looking for them – and when I found them I hired them.
And what started with just me is now a team of 14, and growing every day.
I’m so proud of what we’re doing, and I’m grateful that you’ve entered our life in whatever way you have.
The future is going to be pretty dang fun.
Cheers,
Christopher Small
