The Secret to a Successful Dynasty Trust… | Rich Life Letter #021

Leadership.

Yesterday I did a Q&A session with some real estate investors.

They wanted to know about dynasty trusts.

Translation = they wanted to know how to create a system of perpetual wealth for their family.

And, while I told them all about the nuts and bolts of estate planning, of setting up trusts and creating a system designed to last forever, I kept coming back to one thing.

LEADERSHIP.

It’s impossible to create things that last forever (or even a long time) if you raise a bunch of brats that have no values or philosophy to live by.

And this is tricky, because while it feels good to talk about values, the true demonstration of values happens every day in the way you live your life.

At home, are you talking about money?

How to make it?

How to grow it?

How to USE it?

Do you pick up trash when you see it?

Do you put your shopping cart in the stall in the parking lot?

Do you let people merge with you in traffic?

Do your kids see you reading on a daily basis?

Do you take the time to answer hard questions?

Do they see you pursuing your dreams and goals?

How do you deal with adversity?

Are you willing to take responsibility for your station in life or are you blaming everyone and everything around you?

(and, side note, are you doing this at work too?)

See, the key to generational wealth isn’t money. It’s not assets. It’s not a great trust structure.

The key is BEING someone capable of living a great life.

It’s empowering future generations to be successful on their own.

Do that, and the assets are just a catalyst to continued success and prosperity.

The only question is, are you willing to put in the work?

And the great thing is… you don’t have to answer the question vocally.

You answer with action.

Cheers.
