This is Not Financial Advice… | Rich Life Letter #014
I don’t know about you, but a couple of weeks ago everyone in my world was talking about cryptocurrency.
And not just the regular players, Bitcoin and Etherium.
Dogecoin was all the rage, and there were a couple of others too.
And, if you are following at all, most of them took a huge nosedive. Some people lost A LOT of money.
But that’s not exactly what I want to talk about today.
Instead, I want to talk about something on the periphery.
I want to talk about all the newly founded crypto experts out there (you know who they are… a couple of months ago they were political experts, and a few months before that they were virologists and pandemic experts).
My facebook feed has been filled with all of these posts that start like this:
This isn’t financial advice, but…
THAT is what this email is about.
I want to talk about it from both sides.
First, if you are the one writing posts like that, stop. Just because you say it’s not financial advice at the beginning, if you give financial advice (like “buy this coin, it’s going through the roof!”) then you are giving financial advice.
Second, if you are someone like me reading a bunch of these posts, do me a favor, whenever you see someone start a post with that statement, or reference it somewhere, stop reading and snooze the person for 30 days (there’s a little button you can push to do that).
Why 30 days?
Easy.
Within 30 days they’ll either be broke or will have moved on to the next fad and they won’t be tempting you to part with your hard earned money. :)
Now, before I go, one last thing.
If you are someone that made money off of all those crazy cryptocoins, good for you. I’m happy for you.
But that doesn’t make you a crypto expert.
It makes you lucky.
Take your winnings and give them to someone that can make your money grow steadily and boringly over the next 20 years (if you need a referral I have a couple).
Have a great week!
Cheers,
Christopher Small
