The Mother Lode… | Rich Life Letter #013

First things first, I googled it. It’s definitely lode and not load.

Second things second, as today is Mother’s Day, I needed to work the word mother into the title of the newsletter. It’s a requirement I believe. :)

Funny thing is, it’s a great title.

If you google mother lode, it means “the real or imaginary origin of something valuable or in great abundance.”

And isn’t that what mothers are?

And yes, I mean this whether your mother was amazing or aloof (and whether you as a mother and/or parent are great or not so great).

What do I mean?

Let’s go back to the definition real quick. I’m focusing on “origin of something valuable.”

Our parents, and often our mothers in particular (admit it fellas, moms rule the roost for the most part), are the origin of something more valuable than any real estate, any art, any cryptocurrency, any business, and anything else you can think of, because they are the catalyst for all of it.

The something valuable I’m referring to is YOU.

Our mothers are the origin of us.

And we are the origin of our children.

And so on, forever.

We have the responsibility and the pleasure of shaping our kids (and being shaped by our parents).

Our values, our philosophy, our money story, the way we create relationships… it’s all in some way tied back to our parents.

To close the loop on what I’m trying to say, yes, estate planning is important, yes, financial security is important, and YES, taking the time to not just talk about your values but to live them is fundamental to a strong family.

There is nothing more powerful to creating a strong legacy than taking the time to teach your children whatever it is that you think is important in this life.

With that being said, Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers out there. I hope today was special, and I hope all of us with mothers still alive remember to make every day Mother’s Day.

Happy Sunday!

Cheers,
