Where to Start (before you start)…
One of the first questions I usually ask people that I talk to about estate planning is “what do you want?”
Sometimes people know exactly what they want, and that’s great, but most of the time people have a generally vague idea of what they want.
“I want to protect my family.”
“I want to make sure the right person is chosen to protect my kids.”
Something like that.
Today I want to challenge you to think a little bit deeper about why you are here, what you want to accomplish in your life, and what you want for your family on a micro-level.
For example, I don’t just want to protect my kids or make sure the right person is raising them.
I want to surround my kids with so many tools of success that they can’t help but be affected by at least one of them and turn out great.
I want to own a piece of property that is big enough to accommodate my entire family, and I want start a tradition of meeting there at least twice a year with everyone, not just to have a good time, but to think about, talk about, and plan for the future success of our family.
I want to make sure that my kids both understand the value of hard work and the enormous opportunities in front of them for the taking.
This is why I love estate planning. This is why I do what I do.
It’s all possible for all of us, if we simply commit to taking action to make our dreams come true.
Have a great week.
Sincerely,
Christopher Small
