A Burden or a Blessing? | Rich Life Letter #122
Happy Sunday!
Hopefully you’re having a great weekend and found a way to stay warm and dry. This is literally my least favorite time of the year. :)
For that reason, we’re switching it up this week – no estate planning or probate info – just something thoughtful. So if you’re not into that, you have my permission to skip.
This weekend we had 8 basketball games (4 in Kent and 4 in Redmond), two play dates, and music lessons.
Oh, and we watched “The Dog Who Saved Halloween.”
If you haven’t seen it, it’s about a talking dog that saves his family on Halloween.
It’s riveting… :)
There are two ways to view my weekend, especially if you’re going through it – and trust me when I tell you I waver between the two depending on the time of day.
The first, is that all of this is a burden.
Driving kids around. Watching terrible movies. Sitting in uncomfortable chairs in gyms listening to parents try to live vicariously through their 9 year olds.
It’s easy to wish things were different.
Until you consider, one day they will be.
This is where the blessing perspective comes in.
One day the kids will be grown up.
There will be no more games to drive to, or watch, or victories to celebrate, or defeats to console from.
No more car rides with bad music.
No more car rides with kids so bored they actually start talking (mine talk quite a bit – but those car rides must do something to their brain to get them opening up).
At the end, it’s all a matter of perspective.
In fact, all of life is (even this weather – I’m still looking for the upside!).
Today, in my newsletter, I just wanted to remind myself of that, and maybe, if you need it, remind you too.
Have a great week!
Cheers,
