I actually became an estate planning paralegal by accident.
I was with my dad at his office and we were on the elevator when we overheard someone else in the elevator car talking.
It was a lawyer who managed an estate planning law firm, and he was talking about their need for a paralegal at their office.
I looked into it a little bit and it sounded interesting, as it combines all of the things I love to do: be organized; pay attention to detail; meet and work with great people; and work on interesting and cool problems and help solve them.
So I applied for the job, and I got it.
Part of the opportunity included going to school to get some actual training on being a paralegal, so I seized it.
Over time I began to really love the nuances of estate planning, of the protection and direction it can provide for families, and the more I worked at it the better I got.
Eventually an opening at CMS Law Firm crossed my path and I raised my hand.
What I love about working here isn’t just the great work we do. I feel like that should be the starting point, not something brag about. No, what I love is our approach.
We aren’t snooty about estate planning. We aren’t one size fits all. And because we want clients for life, there’s no internal pressure to extract as much money from our clients as possible.
And one last thing – I do my best every day to meet that standard, and I can’t wait to show you what we do.
