This estate plan we created was for a married couple in their late forties, with two minor children. We prepared a will package for this couple because their total assets were under two million dollars. This included providing guardian designations for their children, in case something happened to the couple before their children were adults.
Because the value of their assets did not exceed two million dollars, they could have a probate completed without having to pay estate taxes at the state or federal level.
We also prepared a Financial Power of Attorney, Medical Power of Attorney and Living Will for each other spouse. The Power of Attorney documents are to provide for the couple in the event that they face a situation where they cannot make financial or medical decisions for themselves.
We prepared the Health Care Directive for end of life decisions, and to take the mystery out of what the couple would want to happen to them if they were in a permanent vegetative state.
