Be Selfish…

We all know the instructions we hear before a plane is about to take off and about what to do if the oxygen masks drop while the plane is in flight.

“Please take care of yourself before taking care of any children or helping anyone around you.”

The same principles apply in estate planning.

What does that mean exactly?

Too often I have people come in who are only interested in reducing their estate tax liability or qualifying for certain low net worth programs that they miss the whole point of life…

TO LIVE!

The message today is a simple one. Yes, legacy is important. Yes, taking care of your family is important. Yes, it feels good to sacrifice for your family. BUT you deserve to live a good life too.

You deserve to have fun.

You deserve to live comfortably.

You deserve to enjoy your family while you are here.

Of course remember to plan for the worst and take care of your family, but don’t forget to enjoy yourself while you’re here.
