#RichLifeLawyer Podcast 013: Estate Planning Law Firm Email Newsletter
Estate Planning Law Firm Email Newsletter
Today I want to talk a little bit about my email newsletter.
If you come into contact with CMS Law Firm you are very likely going onto our weekly email newsletter list.
When you first get on the list you are going to get a series of 10 emails sent out to you one each day before getting put onto a weekly email newsletter.
Some people like email newsletters, some people hate them.
Today I wanted to talk to you about my thought process behind our email newsletter.
Estate Planning Email Newsletter: Important Information
One of the main reason I send out an email newsletter like this, with the series of 10 followed by a weekly newsletter, is that I think it’s important information that everyone should have.
Estate planning is one of the most important areas of our life: it has a direct impact on our own lives and on the lives of future generations of our family.
Despite this acknowledged importance, very few of us out there actually have the estate plan we need in place.
By giving you helpful, educational, interesting, entertaining information every week I’m hoping to give you the nudge you need to take action.
Estate Planning Email Newsletter: Keeping in Touch
Another benefit of the email newsletter is that it’s an easy way for me to keep in touch with you in a non-invasive way.
Yes, I could call you every week and say hello, and you might like that, but there are probably times when you’ve got other stuff going on.
My newsletter allows me to have a mini-conversation with you every week, stay top of mind, and let you know that I’m still thinking about you and care about you, even if we aren’t working together or doing business together.
Estate Planning Email Newsletter: Get Your Business
The final benefit of the newsletter is that I hope it leads to you calling me if and when you decide you need help with your estate planning needs.
Or, in the alternative, when someone you know says they need help, you remember me and send them my way.
In truth, if you just use the information I give you every week to make sure you and your family are taken care of, I’ve done my job and the newsletter is effective.
But, if it leads to us working together, then that’s all the better, right?
What this newsletter does is allow me to show you every week that I care about you, that I know what I’m talking about, and I’m dedicated to providing a great service to my clients.
If you don’t like the email newsletter you can unsubscribe
There is likely a subset of you out there that, whether you are on my email newsletter list or not, are pissed off about this entire episode and the fact that I’d add you to my newsletter list.
I understand that. I’m okay with that. And if you find yourself getting my emails and you don’t want them you can simply unsubscribe. I give you the directions to do that right at the beginning and the unsubscribe button is there bright and clear at the bottom of every email I send out.
I am okay with the fact that not everyone is going to be a good fit for me and my firm. I’m not trying to reach those people. I want people that are interested in protecting themselves, protecting their families, creating generational wealth, and building legacy.
If that’s not you then I’m sure there is someone out there for you.
Hope you enjoyed this inside look behind our estate planning email newsletter. If you are interested in getting on the list to see what it’s all about you can call the firm at 206.659.1512 or go to cmslawfirm.com/newsletter.
Cheers,
Christopher Small

Estate Planning Email Newsletter Transcript
Hey everybody, this is Christopher Small. This is episode thirteen of the Rich Life Lawyer Podcast. I am excited to be here with you today. I’m excited to sort of reveal a little bit more behind the scenes of what CMS Law Firm, what goes into providing a great client experience, providing a great network experience, to just creating a great in-house experience, just being great overall. And today what we’re talking about is everyone gets an email and what I want to talk about is my e-mail newsletter. If you come into contact with CMS Law Firm. You are very likely going on to our weekly e-mail newsletter list and when you first get this list, your first on the list, you’re going to get a series of ten emails sent to you. One each day before getting put onto a weekly e-mail newsletter that I send out.
Some people like e-mail newsletters. Some people hate them. But today I wanted to talk about my thought process behind our e-mail newsletter. Why I send it. Why I think it’s important. And why I think you might want to get it. First, the e-mail, my e-mail newsletter is really designed to provide information. It’s not necessarily designed to sell, right. You won’t see a lot of call to action. Definitely won’t see any scare tactics. What it is, is letting you know and reminding you about the important things that you need to create a great life for yourself, to create a great life for your family. One of the main reasons I send out an email newsletter like this with a series of ten followed by a weekly newsletter is I think it’s important information that everyone should have. This is essentially sort of your basics.
You know, estate planning is one of the most important areas of our life. It has a direct impact on our own lives and the lives of future generations of our family. It also has an impact in the lives of our direct family right now. You know, if you die and you don’t have things in place. They, your family has to deal not just with your loss, the loss of you, which is probably pretty heavy for them but they also have to deal with all this other crap on the side. Like administratively, right. To take care of everything. And despite this acknowledged importance. Very few of us out there actually have the estate plan that we need in place. By giving you helpful, educational, interesting, entertaining, information every week. I’m hoping to give you the nudge that you need to take action. Another benefit of the e-mail newsletter is that it’s an easy way for me to keep in touch with you in a non invasive way. I could call you every week and say hello and you might like that.
But there are probably times when you’ve got other stuff going on. I know I do but I love talking on the phone but there are times when I just want to work. My newsletter allows me to have a mini conversation with you every week, stay top of mind and let you know that I’m still thinking about you and care about you even if we aren’t working together or doing business together. The final benefit of the newsletter is I hope it leads you to calling me if and when you decide you need help with your estate planning needs. Now, important note there is that I said I hope that you call me, right. If the information that I give you leads you to call your current estate planning attorney and talk to them about the issues that I’ve raised. That’s fine. If it just lead you to calling someone else for help. That’s okay. My main goal is really that to have you take some action. You know in truth, if you just use the information or I guess or the alternative. When someone you know says they need help, you remember me and send them my way.
And then in truth if you just use the information I give you every week to make sure you and your family are taken care of I’ve done my job and the newsletter is effective. But if it leads to us working together, that’s all for the better, right. What this newsletter does is allow me to show you every week that I care about you, that I know what I’m talking about and I’m dedicated to providing a great service to my clients. Now what if you don’t like email newsletters or you don’t like email in general? There’s likely a subset of you out there that whether you are on my e-mail newsletter list or not or pissed off about this entire episode in the fact that I’ve added you to my newsletter list, I understand that. I’m okay with that. And if you find yourself getting my e-mails and you don’t want them. You can simply unsubscribe. I give you the directions to do that at the beginning of the very first email and the unsubscribe button is there bright and clear at the bottom of every email I send out.
I’m okay with the fact that not everyone is going to be a good fit for me and my firm. I’m not trying to reach those people. I want people that are interested in protecting themselves, protecting their families, creating generational wealth, and building legacy. I’m interested in you essentially. If that’s not you, then I’m sure there’s someone out there for you when the time arises for you to get help. Alright, that’s it. I hope you enjoy this inside look behind our estate planning email newsletter. If you’re interested in getting on the list to see what it’s all about, you can call me at (206) 659-1512 just say you want to be on the newsletter, that’s fine. Or you can go to cmslawfirm.com/newsletter and check it out. All right that’s it for today. Can’t wait to talk to you soon. Bye bye.
