How to Bequeath Your Seahawks Tickets | Rich Life Letter #132

Happy Sunday and officially Happy New Year!

Since the Seahawks wrapped up the 1st seed in the playoffs and everyone is a fan again, I thought I’d talk about how you can make sure your Seahawks tickets get passed down to the next generation.

The first thing to know is, if you want to take the decision making out of the hands of your heirs, you can create a revocable trust, allocate money for Seahawks tickets every year, and require the Trustee to purchase said tickets.

But what if you want to keep the tickets you have?

There are a couple of options.

First, if you have a Charter Seat License, you basically own your seat.

You’d pass that down just like you would any other property right. Whomever inherited the tickets would just talk with the team about the transfer (and if you had a Trust, you’d probably just put the seats in the name of the Trust before you died).

Second, if you have basically any other type of seat, you’re technically not allowed to transfer the account once someone dies.

BUT, don’t fret, there may be a couple of workarounds.

If you are a spouse, the team will let you transfer the account into the surviving spouse’s name.

What about everyone else?

What the team doesn’t know won’t hurt them.

The Seahawks, understandably, aren’t that concerned with the life status of an account holder. If they send an invoice out and it gets paid, they’re satisfied.

So just pay the invoice, AND don’t forget to outline how they should be used when you’re gone (in your Will or Trust).

That’s it. Pretty straightforward.

If you need help with this, just ask us.

Go Seahawks!
