Q3 Goals… | Rich Life Letter #068

Happy Sunday!

You may not have realized it, but today is officially the last day of the second quarter of 2024.

Yes, the year is officially half over!

I wanted to take a minute today and tell you about something my wife and I do every quarter (and at the beginning of the year for the whole year).

Yes, we are nerds, and we do quarterly goal planning.

But maybe not like you think.

See, we don’t sit down together and hash out goals – at least that’s not the first step.

The first thing we do is take some time alone to think about what we want to get done in the next three months.

These can be individual goals, couple goals, career/business goals – there is no restriction on what you can add to your goal list.

But there is one condition – if you REALLY want to do it you write it down and we talk about it, even if you think the other person won’t be interested.

We both usually end up with 3-5 things on our list.

Once we make our lists we sit down and go back and forth and tell each other what we want to get accomplished for the quarter.

And here’s where things get interesting.

As we are going through each goal we don’t talk about whether or not it can be accomplished – what we talk about is what we can do to help the other person reach their goal.

So, for example, Brooke wants to run a 5k with the kids – it’s something they’ve been talking about.

I hate running – but you can be rest assured I’ll be on the starting line with them on race day to make sure everyone has a blast.

It’s a great way for us to share the things we are interested in and care about – both those things we do together and those things we do individually but could use some support on.

If you’ve never done it, try it!

The conversation alone will be worth it.

Oh, and one last thing – we ALWAYS share our goals out at dinner at some place nice. It’s supposed to be a special event – so we make it one.

Have a great day!

Cheers,
